The "iEgo"

Greetings and Happy 2012.

I've recently been brushing up on my ego-self awareness for a new year. I'm a Spring baby and I always go through a "birthing process" this time of year anyway. In reading my favorite books, they identify that anything with "I, My, Me, Mine, Our" etc. is directly from the ego-self, NOT the Spiritual Self.

Enter the "iEgo"

Isn't it nice that the company Apple has so clearly defined our ego-selves in products? Anything that starts with an "i" we don't REALLY need, it's just ego-satisfaction. Do we need an iPhone, iPad, iPod or iMac to survive or do business? No. It just makes life supposedly "easier" or at least more fun.

Now I must say that I am professionally an Executive Creative Director and use Apple products - back to the Lisa. I do have an iPhone that someone gave me and I use it for email and a phone since I work on my own. But I don't NEED them. I don't use an iMac because you are constantly upgrading a monitor and computer. I use a Mac Mini and a Macbook Pro for travel. It's not to to say that I don't consume Apple. I just don't consume for consumption's sake.

The above comment will probably tug at the ego of the Apple consumer, but take a moment and see if you are just satisfying your ego to have one of its iProducts. It's not a bad thing, just an

iObservation.

Strengthen the Spirit Guide Bond

It's "said" that Spirit Guides are often those that we have known in this lifetime such a relatives, friends and other people we have know that have passed on. They are with us all the time and often help us out when we are in dire need, so strengthen that bond and call upon them when you are in distress. Many other sources say that our Spirit Guides are not to be called upon for casual problems - that is more the task of our Guardian Angels.

It's comforting to think that those that have passed and we might miss could assist us in our daily guidance. Be cautious not to "trap" one that has passed on into serving you, but rather ask for assistance should the need arise. Many also note that it is of no harm that you may simply think of your Guides, or speak with them 24x7. I know of someone who's guide was a former grandparent that was in the landscaping business. He often converses with him and shares the experience with his grandparent/Guide when he himself is outdoors and doing landscaping of his own.

Think of our Guides as someone in the room with you, or someone you are standing alone with for a long time. As common courtesy, you would probably strike up a conversation or at least communicate with them, not simply sit silent and ignore their presence.

Publishers Kill Trees Against Your Wishes

It's a sad fact that it's almost impossible to get off a mailing list. Worse yet, is that dead tree that someone throws at the end of my driveway in the form of some ad, newsletter or publication that I never signed up for in the first place.

Stated Clearly ...

For clarity sake of this blog item, let me state that I am not, and have not been a subscriber of any publication in 14+ years. I am on the "opt out" DMA "Do Not Mail" list and am also registered on the "Do Not Call" registry.

Although I own an Internet development business and have worked in advertising and publishing in the past for almost 25 years, I do not - and have never - advocated the practice that direct mail participants and publishers throwing unsolicited trash in your driveway and mailbox for the sake of their own "subscriber" or "homeowner reach" numbers. I know this for a fact - I've been in the business.

Repeat Offenders

I do everything possible to get off these lists and it's quite taxing. One of the worst offenders is the Roswell Beacon http://www.beaconcastmedia.com. I have sent countless emails, left voicemail information at least 5 times until its "publisher" finally wrote me a nasty note indicating "I didn't care about my community" and such. No I don't care for your newsletter killing trees and littering my lawn when I never asked for it! It's a paid subscription and I'm not a subscriber - why are you littering my lawn?

After many calls and that harassing note from the "Beacon Publisher" the papers finally stopped, Until today, 5/14/2010 they are back. I tried to use their website to get off the list and the online form would not process my information. It seems we are back to square one.

Another horrible offender is ValPak - TRY and get off that list. The AJC (Atlanta Journal Constitution) is also another nut to crack. Although they do seem to follow through with canceling service that I've never signed up for, they still throw "supplements" or special promotion items yet again - in my driveway of mailbox. The AJC comes door-to-door every now and then to try and convert us, but I have never subscribed. I always note that ever I did subscribe, it would only be to the NY Times Sunday paper - even that is respectfully (kicking and screaming) trying to go digital only.

So Help Us Keep Our Trees

Boycott the institution like those mentioned that cannot respect our intentions not to subscribe or receive these publications, supplements and advertising. Take a stand to save our trees. Continue to request to receive your "news" or other information online. Do your part to "unsubscribe".

Why Would Spirits Seek us Out?

My friend of nearly 65 years recently told me they had encounters with spirits that actually talked to them. I was some what taken back by this but my friend has never lied to me nor have they ever had any mental problems, never been on any type of medications or abused drugs.

We have lived average lives alongside one another for a very long time. The spirits visit her on the beach of the island on which we grew up. They tell her historical information and one in particular told her some information to relay to another individual on earth )or a person alive on earth). Do you really think that is possible? Why would the spirits seek out this one individual? Why is it when I am not with her they do not appear?

Thank you for contacting SpiritGuides.com. It's interesting our "minds", or better said ego, questions the act of communicating with Spirits as you have in your letter to us indicating "mental problems". We are unfortunately conditioned to think that way as we grow up.

That in mind,
We think it's wonderful that the spirits visit your friend on the beach where you both grew up, it must have been magical for her. To get historical information from them must be fascinating and she should check the information she receives against actual written facts to assure their accuracy for her own peace of mind. If she feels compelled to share the information about others she has received and feels uncomfortable about it, perhaps twist the facts a bit and say that the information came in a dream. There could be some very beneficial advice a friend may have been given through her.

You asked: Why would the spirits seek out this one individual? Why is it when I am not with her they do not appear? Why would they not seek her out? She must be open to it. You are probably not as open to it from your writing and this is probably the reason they do not appear in your presence.

Being Kabbalah

I was recently reading a book on Kabbalah that takes you through the fast-track of its meaning and practices. Based on the principle to be proactive and NEVER reactive, it teaches that we be the "Vessel" to receive the power and light of the Creator. I am not personally a good receiver, in fact I have rarely in my life asked for help or guidance from the Creator.

I always wonder why the world is not laid at my feet, when in fact I never ask that it be. I was dumbfounded in this book when a paragraph read:

"What can I DO, starting now, that will make me worthy of the things I desire in life"

This to me is one of the most powerful thoughts and challenges I have ever read. What does that mean to each of us, how do we get started?

Any thoughts to share anyone?

Greetings Seekers,

Many, many years ago I began the Web site SpiritGuides.com - then it has sat unattended. This is especially tragic as I own and operate http://www.holmesinnovations.com, an Advertising and Internet Development business!

As the saying goes "The Cobbler Has No Shoes". Well that's all about to change.

It is my vow this year to give the Web site and all it's visitors the attention it deserves. Behind the scenes I have been directing people and answering a myriad of questions from "how do I find my spirit guides" to "what are the best practices for meditation". This along with some recommended reading and several extract of wisdom is about all the further I got - so now this year begins.

As I start this venture anew, I welcome all seekers to assist the progress and contribute where possible. If the world is to finally become enlightened, it starts with each and EVERY one of us.
